Hiking and Cycling

Montefrío, is part of the region of Poniente de Granada (Western Granada). It limits to the N-NO with Almedinilla and Priego, in the province of Córdoba and to the N-NE with Alcalá la Real, in the province of Jaén. It has 255 km2 of extension and a variable altitude ranging from 833m in the urban area to 1,608m at the top of the Sierra de Parapanda.
The climatic conditions are Mediterranean with a high degree of continentality. Seasonal disparities are notable, with hot, dry summers with little cloud cover while winters are rainy and cold.
There is a great diversity of flora and fauna. The vegetable landscape is made up of scrubland, with some large Holm oak groves, as well as pine and almond trees. The olive grove clearly dominates the landscape, with specimens over 500 years old.
Nature lovers find in Montefrío the perfect place to enjoy hiking trails and cycling due to its rich natural landscape, two mountain ranges of environmental interest: Sierra de Chanzas and Sierra de Parapanda, and an archaeological zone declared Cultural Interest Asset.
